Requirements: Swimmers in this group have advanced from the Gold group or have had previous swimming and meet experience in another program. Multiple USA swimming national “A” times in the swimmers current age group are required to enter the Platinum group. Swimmers are selected for this group by the coaching staff. Swimmers must obtain an 80% seasonal practice attendance to remain in the group. Swimming must be the #1 sport, but is not required to be the only sport. Swimmer must have the desire and ability to reach the AA and AAA level. Meet participation is required to remain in the group. Swimmer must have demonstrated the ability to train at or near the base intervals typically used in the group.
Training: 1.75 hours per day; 6 days per week
Yardage: 3,000 – 5,000 yards
Basic Goals: Swimmer understands training at percent of effort sets and knows how to take pulse rate; introduction to Energy Systems, Aerobic and Lactate; Introduction to team travel and rules; Swimmer can track times and send-off’s; train all four strokes; learn advanced race tactics; improve performance in the water; progress to Zones, Missouri Valley Top 8, Sectionals; prepare athlete for Senior swimming program; learn all the drills used in the club; swimmer swims 200’s of stroke, 400IM, distance freestyle.
Personal Goals: Time management; goal setting – seasonal and long term; introduction to Log Book; dedication to the club.
Dryland: Circuit body weight training; ab work (sit-up’s); running; push-up’s; stretching; water polo; running games; introduction to Med Ball.
Equipment: Fins; paddles; team suit’ kickboard; mesh bag; water bottle.
Test Sets/Tracking: 3 x 400 IM for time or 3 x 400 free or back @ prescribed intervals
Swimmers are required to maintain the intent of an 85% practice attendance in order to take full advantage of all this group has to offer! If the swimmer does not show the ability to commit to the intent of 85% attendance, movement out of the group will be required. This is at the discretion of the coach the Platinum group.
Swimmers in this group who are attending high school are required to:
• Compete with (TSA) at championship meets.
• Boys - compete at Level 1 or 2 Champs before leaving for their high school swim team
• Girls - compete at Division 1 or 2 Champs or Sectionals before leaving for their high school swim team
