WELCOME TO TSA! You
have made an exciting decision. You have joined one of the top teams in the state
offering a year-round competitive swim program. Many challenges and rewards
await you. Whether you strive for national level swimmer status, or just want to swim
with a good competitive team, we have a place for you. TSA is designed to accommodate anyone interested in a positive age group or
senior competitive swim expierience, from the new age grouper
(perhaps as young as five years old) through the highly motivated
national level senior. Keep in mind that this is a year-round
program, not a series of learn-to-swim lessons. All team workouts
and meet schedules have been carefully planned by the coaching
staff and are executed in a group setting.
Why swimming?
One way of preparing for the competition
of life is by paticipating in competitive sports. There are
few, if any, activities that can contribute so much to the
well-rounded development of a person as swimming. How soon?
How much? These are questions each parent has to face. Some
choose a "sink or swim" attitude and do little to
help, while others shield their children at every turn. Both
are extremes and, like most extremes, are probably best avoided.
Assuming that a parent wants to steer some sort of middle
course, what role can competitive sports play in the emotional,
social, and physical growth of an individual?
The general advantages of swimming include:
- It is healthy thing to do!
- It is a low injury rate sport.
- It is available to boys and girls af all ages.
- It encourages a more rounded social development.
- It promotes self-organization and discipline.
- In open meets, Juniors get a chance to swim in the same
events as Seniors and Champions in a manner denied in many other
sports.
We are excited to have you become a part of TSA,
and we look forward to a great relationship with you and your
swimmer(s). There are a few items that you need to be aware
of. Please read through them carefully.
1. All TSA swimmers must be registered
with USA swimming. This is a separate form. The fee for
this is $46.00 per swimmer. Please return the fee and form
to TSA! Swimmers transferring to TSA from another USA Swimming
team must fill out a transfer form and pay a $5.00 transfer
fee.
2. All TSA swimmers must submit a medical information sheet
and return it with their TSA registration form.
3. Since TSA must pay its bills, we expect the members of
TSA stay with the team all year long and pay team dues all
year long. There will be times that swimmers have to take
some time off, for example, those who participate in high
school swimming. During those periods, swimmers will pay
an inactive fee of $15.00 per month. Swimmers on the inactive
status will continue to receive all the benefits of the
team and be allowed back into their practice group once
they return to the team (providing that they can stay up
with their practice group).
4. TSA board meeting are held on the second Monday of each month. These meetings are open to all TSA swim families.
